On May 26, Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and China State Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd., as joint sellers, built the fourth 23000TEU ultra-large dual-fuel container ship "CMA CGM The "CMA CGM TROCADERO" was officially named and delivered.


"CMA CGM Trocadero" is the eighth of the 9 series of container ships signed between CMA CGM and China State Shipbuilding Corporation. It is also Jiangnan Shipbuilding's subsequent completion of "CMA CGM • Champs Elysees" and "CMA CGM • Lu After "Floating Palace" and "CMA CGM Montmartre", the last ship in the series of 4 ships delivered. The successful delivery of the ship marks the perfect end of the series of 4 23000TEU dual-fuel power container ships built by China Shipbuilding Trading and Jiangnan Shipbuilding for CMA CGM.


Chen Weiping, deputy general manager of Jiangnan Shipbuilding, and Ludovic RENOU, CEO of CMA CGM China, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. This type of container ship is the ship with the largest container capacity in the "Hercules" series developed and designed by 708, and it has been classified by the Bureau Veritas (BV). The ship has a total length of 399.9 meters, a model width of 61.3 meters, a service speed of 22 knots, a deadweight of nearly 220,000 tons, a deck area of 23,978 square meters, equivalent to 3.5 standard football fields, a carrying capacity of 23,000 TEU, and can carry 2,200 40-foot cold storage The container is currently the largest dual-fuel container ship in the world.


This type of ship is the world's first ultra-large container ship using membrane fuel tanks and dual fuel propulsion. It uses LNG as the main fuel, adopts WinGD dual fuel main engine and is equipped with the world's first GTT MARK III membrane fuel tank, with a capacity of 18,600 cubic meters. Meters, can support ships to and from Asia and Europe routes.


At the same time, the ship meets the most stringent emission standards in the world (the latest global sulfur emission limit index implemented by IMO in 2020). Compared with traditional fuel container ships, it can reduce more than 20% of carbon, 85% of nitrogen oxides and 99% of nitrogen oxides. Sulfur emissions greatly reduce environmental pollution. The line type and structure of the hull are more optimized, and the layout and system of large-capacity refrigerated containers have been further improved, which greatly reduces the operating cost of a single container and meets the diversified operational needs of shipowners.



In 2017, CMA CGM ordered 9 23000TEU dual-fuel container ships with China State Shipbuilding Corporation. The series of ships were built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding, 4 ships, and Hudong Zhonghua 5 ships. Since the signing of the project, Jiangnan Shipbuilding has played a game of chess with 708, shipowners, ship inspectors, and service providers. With the goal of high-quality delivery, they have worked together to achieve the rhythmic construction of ultra-large container ships. Since the start of construction of the first series of ships in August 2018 and the delivery of the last ship in May 2021, the four ships were delivered on time or in advance according to the contract nodes. The successful acceptance of the various tests also indicates that the design, construction and commissioning of Jiangnan Shipbuilding's dual-fuel ship types have become more mature, and various technological procedures and construction methods have become more and more complete.


During the construction of this series of products, the participating construction departments of Jiangnan Shipbuilding actively summed up the experience of the previous ship, the construction cycle was gradually shortened and solidified, the technical process, safety management, quality management and other aspects were more complete, and a group of professional technical teams were cultivated. . In the 5-day regular sea trial, 40% of the gas system commissioning and inspection was completed interspersedly. The commissioning and inspection cycle of the gas system was reduced from the original 20 days to 12 days. The gas refueling was completed in 5 days, and the gas trial was completed in 6 days. , 18 days to complete the elimination of opinions, all hit a new high; the total number of OCR opinions and mooring installation opinions of shipowners decreased by more than 20% ship by ship.


After years of development and practice, Jiangnan Shipbuilding has accumulated rich experience in design and construction in the field of large and medium container ship construction. In particular, dual-fuel large container ships have become one of the main ship types, successfully breaking the Monopoly in the container ship market.


It is reported that the "CMA CMA CGM Trocadero" will sail from China to Northern Europe on May 29 to join CMA CGM's LNG-powered container fleet, and will be put into operation of CMA CGM's flagship route-Asia-Europe FAL1.
