For the first time, the world's largest maritime exhibition will be held as a digital virtual show, free of charge for all visitors, from February 2 to 5, 2021.
For 4 days, SMM DIGITAL will offer an exciting program on 2 channels - "Conference Stream" and "Open Stream ", featuring top international speakers. All sessions will be streamed live on the computer screens of the participants. In addition, a number of panel discussions and interviews have been pre-recorded in the specially set up SMM studio at the Hamburg Exhibition Center, all in strict compliance with all current safety and hygiene regulations. The recordings will be broadcast on a second channel, "Open Stream". The sessions will be moderated by digital expert Carmen Hentschel and American journalist David Patrician.
The entire program is free of charge for all participants. Claus Ulrich Selbach, head of business for maritime and technical exhibitions at the Hamburg International Exhibition and Convention Center, noted: "We have taken the decision to make all the expert knowledge available to an even larger industry audience this year, including industry professionals and SMM enthusiasts, as well as interested first-time participants. The "Tradewinds Digital Forum" (Tradewinds Digital Forum), on the other hand, will focus on the economic aspects, with Julian Bray, Editor-in-Chief of Tradewinds, and his guests discussing the situation of the container ship market and the importance of sustainability criteria for the future of ship financing. At the "Global Marine Environment Conference" (GMEC), industry experts will exchange views on the role of shipping in the climate crisis, among others from the "Fridays For Future" Representatives from the Fridays For Future campaign and the German Nature Conservancy (NABU) will be among the guests. The "Conference Stream" channel features established, discipline-specific SMM sessions where channel viewers can submit questions online, which will be delivered to the top panelists in attendance at the end of each session. In addition, throughout SMM DIGITAL, viewers of both channels will be able to communicate with each other using the chat feature.
